The problem I keep running into
In my career in IT, I've seen the same story play out over and over: a small business ends up locked into a relationship with an MSP or software vendor that's optimized for recurring revenue, not for the business's actual needs. Processes that are dictated by whatever the software happens to allow, instead of the other way around. Lackluster support when you need it most.
Once you leave the world of large enterprises and multi-million dollar budgets, that kind of "money printing" behavior becomes a real problem — and there isn't always someone in the room whose job is to push back on it.
That's the role I try to fill.
How I work
I'm not a managed service provider, and I don't sell software. I work for you, not a vendor — which means when the right answer is "don't spend the money," that's exactly what I'll tell you.
A few things that shape how I operate:
- Plain language. If I use a technical term, I'll explain it. You shouldn't need an IT background to understand what I'm recommending or why.
- Advocacy first. Part of my job is looking at what you're already paying for — software, vendors, support contracts — and telling you honestly whether it's serving you.
- Nearly a decade in infrastructure engineering, across organizations ranging from small sole proprietors to large enterprises with 5,000+ employees

Who I work with
I focus on owner-operated and small-to-midsize businesses and organizations across Southeastern Massachusetts — law offices, accounting and medical practices, real estate professionals, nonprofits, and other local businesses. Some don't have any dedicated IT support in place; others already work with an internal IT person or an outside vendor, and just want a second set of eyes they can trust to look out for their interests specifically.
A recent example
Earlier this year I worked with a local nonprofit community newspaper to build out their website, deploy Google Workspace, and develop a custom internal application to support their day-to-day workflow. It's the kind of project I like best: a real organization with real constraints, looking for practical solutions instead of a sales pitch.
How it starts
Most engagements start with a free initial conversation — no obligation, no pitch. I'll ask about what's frustrating you, take a look at what's actually going on, and give you a straight assessment of what I see, including what's working fine and doesn't need to be touched.
